My Life & Other Stuff That Went Wrong Book Launch

The Byron Bay launch of My Life & Other Stuff That Went Wrong was a bunch of fun. I co-presented with Raph Atkins, 13 y.o. writer of 'Morris', a short story included in the book.

We kicked off with disgusting My Life-inspired snacks.

(All pics by the talented and lovely Amber Melody.)

Vegemite on Toes
The scabs were exquisite.

Mucous milkshakes were the most popular item on the menu. (Recipe: Banana smoothie with green food colouring.)

Best to get the kids jacked up on sugar before any good book launch.
Before the launch I ran a workshop for young writers through the Northern Rivers Writers Centre
- Your Life & Other Stuff You Made Up.

I told some tales about Raph stalking me until I gave up and agreed to put the story about his rotten sausage dog
in my book.
Raph gave a masterclass in drawing Morris the Sausage Dog.

There were giveaways of Morris t-shirts and My Life books. :-)

Raph's mum, Claire Atkins, was the mastermind behind the amazing illustrated decorations.
Also, chief scab chef.

Big thanks to Sarah Ma and the Northern Rivers Writers Centre for supporting the workshop and launch.

Inside a Dog

I'm blogger-in-residence at Inside a Dog (State Library of Victoria's Centre for Youth Literature) for the month of April.

My plan is to develop a movie script based on my new book Two Wolves in collaboration with readers of the blogI'd love you to join in and throw around ideas for the script, talk about the best book-to-movie adaptations, learn a bit about screenwriting, draft some scenes and use transmedia tools (images, video, maps, apps and music) to develop the film. I'd also like you to test-drive the new Web-based Story Scrapbook story brainstorming tool before it's released into the world.

You don't need to have read Two Wolves yet. Although you can get a free sample here:

If and when the movie is made I'll ensure there's a Special Thanks credit for any Inside a Doggers who leave comments and contribute to the development of the screenplay.
