My aim is to write Books That Move. Books that are pacy and engaging but that also inspire the reader, with characters that you care about.
Mac Slater, Coolhunter!
I have a brand new, fast-moving book series called Mac Slater, Coolhunter. The first book, The Rules of Cool hits shelves in July, 2008.

I’ll be talking about Mac Slater, Coolhunter at this year’s Byron Bay Writer’s Festival 25-27 July and at Wordplay at Brisbane Writer’s Fest on 17-18 September.
Kids Inc.
I wrote eight short books for Kids Inc., a series about kids getting together and setting up their own businesses. There are four action-packed titles known as Dream Racers about a group of friends who set up a go-kart race team. Another set of four, Hollywood or Bust sees some kids start up their own movie production company, just like I did as a teenager.
You can ask for the books through your school or local library or order them via this site. Click the links on this page to find out more about Mac Slater Coolhunter, Hollywood and Racers.
My Writing
I’ve been writing stuff down since as far back as I can remember: ‘To-Do’ Lists, story ideas, dreams, lines of dialogue, random ideas and quotes scratched on computer, scrap paper, serviettes, on my hand, any flat-ish surface really. It’s always been an obsession. I’ve written lots of articles about moviemaking, a few films and now books for children and young adults.
I have four non-fiction titles in a series called XZone published by Scholastic in Australia, New Zealand and Canada and McGraw Hill in the USA. The books are about some of my favourite things—Space Stations, Theme Park Rides, Dogs and Comedy.
I’m currently working on the second book in the Mac Slater, Coolhunter series and it’s set in one of my favourite cities in the world, New York City.
If you want to know how I go about the crazy business of writing you can drop me a line on email or click here to check out excerpts from the diary I kept while writing Mac Slater, Coolhunter 1: The Rules of Cool.
