Tristan Bancks, 2011 Byron Bay Writers Festival

One of the greatest parts of my job is speaking about storytelling and creativity. I run workshops and talks at festivals, conferences and schools about my books and hopefully inspire others to read and create their own stuff.

To check my availability for Queensland-based workshops and talks you can email

Feedback From Schools
'Can I thank you again for the visit on Monday, the students had a fabulous time and their common statement about you was "awesome" so you have definitely left a good impression on our "budding authors.'
Manly State School, July, 2011.

'Thank you for your wonderful presentation with the students at St Martin's. I've had very positive feedback from students, teachers and parents - congratulations on a job well done. We look forward to welcoming you back to our school at the earliest opportunity.'
St. Martin’s Primary School, July, 2011.

'Tristan effectively used his own website for exciting examples of his use of multi-media in narrative writing. Tristan’s use of the laptop as an effective teaching tool, kept the boys’ focus while he showed his creative inspirations for places and characters in his books.'
Ipswich Grammar School, March, 2010.

'I just wanted to let you know how fabulous Tristan was today. The students were really excited. The teachers said he was the best author we’d ever had!!'
St. Peter’s Lutheran College, Indooroopilly, September, 2009.

Feedback From Recent State Library of Queensland 'Story Lab' Workshops
- 'Tristan was really interesting and made the workshop really fun and the way he did stuff resonated with me.'
- 'The workshop helped me confront my fears of showing others my work.'
- 'The best thing was the fact that we can have a real author who can relate to us and help us out with our writing problems.'
- 'I would absolutely recommend this workshop to other parents. It was a credit to the author that my daughter was so overwhelmingly enthusiastic and excited when she came home. She is still working on her drafts in order to send them to the author and talks about him all the time. I would recommend these courses to other children.'

I have just started delivering Skype talks and workshops for schools in far-flung places. They're lots of fun, highly interactive and filled with images, video, music and storytelling. See below for my Skype flyer and here is a post on my recent Skype book-trailer-making workshops
