Melbourne Tour

It’s Australian Children’s Book Week and I’ve spent the past few days warming up by visiting some amazing schools in Melbourne. We talked story and creative process, I read some of my work-in-progress, we transmedia-brainstormed using Story Scrapbook. Lots of fun.

Here are some pics of my adventures. (And don’t forget to enter my Book Week competition to win a free Skype author talk.)

Nice reading tips at Xavier College, Kew.
With magnificent illustrator Dean Gorissen.

Prizes for visiting Monbulk Secondary.

With Sue Beasley, librarian at Monbulk Secondary College
and former Japanese teacher of my friend and it’s yr life co-writer Tempany Deckert!

Penleigh and Essendon Grammar students have been taking Book Week’s ‘Read Across the Universe’ theme very seriously with some resourceful rocket-fuelled creations.

And cake. Book Week season is notorious for obscene over-consumption of cake. I’ll be documenting my weight gain, raised blood pressure and tooth loss on this blog in coming days. Extraordinary, really, the sacrifices I make to inspire kids to read.

Happy Book Week.
