The Children’s Book Council of Australia has announced its Book of the Year Notable Books for Younger Readers and I’m proud to see Detention listed among some really impressive titles and authors. It’s a great chance for more people to discover these books. I’ve just been reading Bren MacDibble’s The Dog Runner, which I loved and I’m about to dive into Fiona Hardy’s How to Make a Movie in 12 Days.
In the same week as the Notables were announced, the Australian Book Industry Association announced its ABIA Awards longlist and Detention was mentioned there, too, so I feel doubly fortunate. Again, some great work listed (below) and I hope you get a chance to read some of these. I’m onto them as soon as I’m done with my CBCA list reading.
And, finally, Detention has also been shortlisted for the Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children’s Literature in the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. Full list in image below!
