From May to August 2025, an online project, ANZ StorySchool, is being offered to teaching teams in Australia and NZ, aimed at exploring how technology can enhance students’ communication skills.
Created in partnership with Apple Education, ANZ StorySchool brings educators from Australia and New Zealand together to enhance communication skills in Year 3-6 iPad classrooms through storytelling and creative expression. Led by myself and Dr. Chris Blundell of Queensland University of Technology, the program provides resources, activity ideas, access to my Young Writers’ StorySchool for up to three teachers in a school and a platform and community of practice to share learnings and outcomes. Participation is free.
Program requirements
The program is open to one teaching team per school, of up to 3 educators who are:
- Teaching a year level from Years 3, 4, 5 or 6
- Teaching students in a one-to-one device setting, iPad (9th generation) or later
- Must be available to attend the four 1-hour virtual sessions outlined below
- Participants are asked to apply one lesson idea in their classroom between each session and share reflections or findings in the virtual community space. Although content and resources will only be shared with the teaching team, leadership support are welcome to attend the virtual sessions.

StorySchool is a four-part series with 1-hour sessions from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm AEST on: • Thursday 15th May • Thursday 12th June • Thursday 31st July • Thursday 28th August
